Who's afraid of learning more codes?
A quick way to strike fear in the hearts of many healthcare professionals is to talk about how many ICD-10 codes will be in play after Oct. 1.
But not all healthcare specialties are coded equal. Some areas have more diagnosis codes to work with than others.
Home healthcare workers will deal with more codes mostly because of laterality and number of patient encounters. But they will have to learn how to document more descriptive diagnoses in the ICD-10-CM code sets.
