How ICD-10-CM/PCS changes are made

The ICD-10 Coordination and Maintenance Committee is meeting 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 13-14 to discuss proposed changes to ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. This is a public forum, there are more than 100 seats available for both days at the time of publication.

These meetings are where the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) discuss how the ICD-10 codes sets should be changed. This is how the number of codes grows.

On Sept. 13, they will discuss the ICD-10-PCS codes. They have released a tentative agenda but keep checking the event info for the final agenda.

The ICD-10-CM codes are scheduled for discussion Sept. 14. There is a tentative agenda of codes for discussion.

The meetings will be held at CMS offices, 7500 Security Blvd., Baltimore. Non-governmental employees will need to show a photo ID. Registration is required for attendees and toll-free dial-in access (1-877-267-1577; Meeting ID: 997 795 269).
