ICD-101: The anatomy of an ICD-10 code
Posted on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 - 08:09 amIt was a quiet week for ICD-10 codes but there were a couple important posts that can help you prepare for ICD-10 implementation:
- Holly Cassano looks at how and ICD-10 code is organized. It's an excellent primer on the code set.
- Michelle Leppert explains how ICD-10 coder assessments can help you create a training plan. Of course medical coders will need ICD-10 code training. But how much do they need to improve their anatomy and physiology knowledge?
And here are a couple examples of what you need to know for ICD-10-CM/PCS coding:
- You’ll never believe what that crazy coyote did this time: What your physicians need to document when Wile E. Coyote gets hit by a truck. (ICD-10 Trainer)
- Fill in 2 Blanks to Report This Carotid Bypass Procedure Code: What you need to know about a carotid bypass for ICD-10-PCS coding. (Super Coder Bolt)
This is a weekly feature that I use to highlight practical tips on how to use and understand ICD-10-CM/PCS codes. Please let me know of any other sources that I can include.
